Including Bundle Customers in Our Customer Emails

Hello! It would be useful if bundle customers were included when sending emails out to our customers. Right now they aren’t, despite them being listed as customers in our sales section. This is especially beneficial to us when bundles do really well (like the recent Free RPG Day bundle), as it allows us to follow up with a large number of folks already interested in our stuff.

I know we can message them individually, but that’s over 500 emails to send (in the case of the RPG Day bundle) versus being able to message them all at once.

Thanks for the suggestion. I completely understand why you’d want this, especially after a successful bundle like the Free RPG Day bundle where there are hundreds of potential customers you’d love to follow up with.

We actually did allow creators to email everyone who purchased a collab bundle that included their products when we first launched. However, after thinking through the experience from the buyer’s perspective, we decided to change that.

Our goal is for creator emails to go to people who have shown a direct interest in that creator’s work. Purchasing a bundle containing 100+ products (or 250+ products in the case of the Free RPG Day bundle) doesn’t necessarily mean a buyer wants to receive emails from every creator included in it. In large bundles, that could easily result in buyers receiving hundreds of unsolicited emails.

To help balance those two needs, we updated the email tool so that it now includes two groups when you email your customers:

  • Anyone who purchased your products directly (outside of a collab bundle).
  • Anyone who downloaded one of your products, even if they originally got it through a collab bundle.

That way, everyone receiving your email has actively engaged with your work, while also protecting buyers from being overwhelmed by messages from creators they may never have interacted with.

I do appreciate the suggestion, though, and I can certainly see the value from a creator’s perspective. At the moment, we think this strikes the best balance between giving creators a way to reach genuinely interested customers and ensuring buyers have a good experience on the platform.
