Crowdfunding fulfilment

Any plans to have features to distribute (digital) games to backers of crowdfunding campaigns?

(I did look, but please correct me if they are already there)

We definitely have plans to add that, but it wasn’t a priority for launch. I think it would be very helpful for people, and a common use case for marketplaces like this.

If you could provide any details about how you would like it to work, that would be helpful for us when designing and building it.

I have been recently thinking about this, and one approach that would be interesting is to feed a sheet (CSV, XLSX…) into the RPG Trader system (Itch allows that for example). The sheet has a column of email addresses and several columns of SKUs (SKU in the top row, 1 and 0s in the column below). This format matches what I can export from Kickstarter. I just have to rename the columns to the correct RPG Trader SKU (in row 1).

If the email in the first column matches an RPG Trader account, then that account automatically gets the product with the matching SKU added to their library (if there’s a 1 in the associated column). If the email does not match, then it receives an invite to RPG Trader (with the products waiting for them).

This would be, I believe, the holy grail of KS fulfillment. Would love other people to chime in on it though, maybe I’m missing something! Here’s a screenshot:

Thanks! This makes sense, and should be reasonable to implement.

We could also look into including print-on-demand fulfilment, although there would be a lot more complexity involved there (mostly around address formatting, and paying for printing and shipping).

Once the launch has settled, and we can focus on some new big features, this will be one of the first ones we focus on.

Crowdfunding fulfilment (or rather, bulk order imports) is now a feature on RPG Trader.

It allows for digital and physical crowdfunding fulfilment, with a simple CSV import.

We might be one of the first to test this for a Print on Demand order. I’m running it by my team now but we’ll be fulfilling a Kickstarter that ends in two weeks. We were going to go through Lulu anyway, so it might all align perfectly.
